High Tensile Strength Castings
Material, Classification and Application
1. Ordinary carbon steel
Ordinary carbon steel is composed of steel and carbon, and can be divided into low carbon steel, medium carbon steel, and high carbon steel according to their carbon content. Among them, high carbon steel has the highest tensile strength, which can reach over 1200MPa. However, high carbon steel is prone to fatigue and brittleness, and is not suitable for fields with high strength requirements.
2. Alloy steel
Alloy steel is made by adding other elements such as chromium, cobalt, nickel, molybdenum, vanadium etc. To ordinary carbon steel to improve its strength, hardness, and toughness. Among them, chromium molybdenum alloy steel and chromium nickel molybdenum alloy steel have high tensile strength, usually reaching 800-1500MPa. This type of steel is often used in fields such as aerospace, navigation, and petrochemicals.
3. Stainless steel
Stainless steel has excellent characteristics such as corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and aesthetics, and has high tensile strength. Among them, the tensile strength of austenitic stainless steel can reach 600-800MPa; Martensitic stainless steel may even reach over 2000MPa. Stainless steel is widely used in fields such as chemical, mechanical, automotive, and shipbuilding.
4. High strength low alloy steel
High strength low alloy steel is a new type of material that uses hard alloys or other special alloys to strengthen steel. It not only has the strength and weldability of ordinary steel, but also has high strength, toughness, and wear resistance. The tensile strength can be between 800-1800MPa, especially suitable for fields such as bridges, construction, transportation, oil and gas exploration, etc.
